First, see the flat as it really is

I have inherited an old flat in Sant Boi. What should I check first?

Is a full renovation worth it, or are a new kitchen and bathroom enough?
It depends on the condition of the electrics and plumbing and on what the flat will be used for. If both are sound, a new kitchen and bathroom with flooring and paint may be enough. If they need redoing, it usually makes more sense to plan the whole job and open the walls only once.
Do I need permission from Sant Boi council to renovate the flat?
It depends on the work. The council’s online office has a procedure called ‘Vull fer obres’ (‘I want to carry out works’) that separates work needing a licence from work handled by prior notice. It is worth checking once the scope is defined and before dates are set.
