What decides whether a new bathroom is feasible
A new bathroom has to drain, and that matters more than floor area. We check where the soil stack is, the route the waste pipe would take and whether there is enough fall without raising half the floor. The stack is a shared part of the building and stays put: anything affecting it goes to the owners’ community first. With no window, the extractor needs a route out too.
Plasterboard, plumbing and tiling, in that order
The room is enclosed with plasterboard partitions in moisture-resistant board, with pipes and cables run inside. The shower area is then waterproofed and tiled. The room giving up the space is part of the job too: its floor finished against the new wall, skirting and sockets repositioned, walls repainted. If the drainage means a raised bathroom floor, you will know before work starts.
In a house: a cloakroom on the living floor
Castelldefels also has its share of single-family houses, mostly away from the centre. If daily life happens downstairs and the bathrooms are upstairs, a cloakroom under the stairs or beside the utility room saves trips. The Town Council separates prior notification of works with and without a technical project and publishes a guide, so ask its planning department (Urbanisme) which applies to you.

Can a second bathroom be added to a flat?
It can when the new bathroom’s waste pipe reaches the soil stack with enough fall and the room can be ventilated. We check this on a visit before proposing anything, and we will tell you if it is not feasible.
Where does the space for an en-suite bathroom come from?
From the bedroom itself, the room next door, a built-in wardrobe or a stretch of corridor. What decides it is which of those sits closest to the soil stack. With a floor plan or rough measurements, we can say which options are worth studying.
