Renovations in Cornellà de Llobregat
Many flats in Cornellà de Llobregat date from the 1960s and 70s, when a household plugged in far less than it does now. A.BEC can bring the electrics up to date as part of your renovation. We travel from Vilafranca del Penedès, so tell us where the flat is and what you want to change.

Signs the wiring has fallen behind
The Sant Ildefons district went up from the 1960s onwards. If your flat dates from those years and still has its original electrics, this may sound familiar: one socket per room, extension leads everywhere, a breaker that trips when the oven and washing machine run together. Not everything has to go, but it is worth checking. At the visit we look at the consumer unit and tell you what we find.
Why it is decided before tiling and painting
Cables run inside walls and ceilings, and replacing them means cutting channels into the plaster. That makes sense while the kitchen and bathroom are stripped out and the walls will be tiled or painted anyway; later it would mean breaking into new finishes. So we ask early where the bed, desk and appliances will go, because that decides the sockets.
Induction hobs, air conditioning and circuits for the new kitchen
Swapping gas for an induction hob or adding air conditioning asks more of the electrics than was planned when the flat was built. Each usually gets a dedicated line from the consumer unit, with the rest split into circuits: kitchen, bathroom, sockets, lighting. If a breaker trips, you know where to look. If your contracted supply (the “potencia” on your bill) needs reviewing, we will say so.
WE KNOW YOU HAVE QUESTIONS
Before your renovation begins.
Does the wiring have to be replaced when renovating an older flat?
Not always, but it should be checked before the walls are closed up. If the flat still has its original electrics and you are renewing the kitchen and bathroom, those areas and the consumer unit usually need updating. We assess it at the visit, with a qualified electrician where required.
Can you rewire just the kitchen?
Yes, the kitchen can be rewired on its own, with its own circuits and sockets. The condition is that the consumer unit can take the new circuits; if it is too small, it needs work as well. We check this before making a proposal.
Do I need council permission to renovate a flat in Cornellà?
It depends on the scope of the work. Cornellà’s online council office lists an “assabentat d’obres”, a notice for work in homes that is exempt from a licence, separately from minor works for interior renovations. It is best to ask the Ajuntament which applies before setting dates.
