Renovations in Sant Cugat del Vallès
Some renovations start with the style already decided and a different worry: how it will look once fitted. Where the tile cuts fall, how an outside corner is finished, what happens where wood flooring meets tiles. A.BEC considers projects in Sant Cugat del Vallès subject to scope, location and our availability, as we travel from Vilafranca del Penedès.

What we can do for your home
The tile layout is settled on paper
Before the first tile is fixed, we draw how the tiling is set out on each wall: where it starts and where the cuts fall, so you do not end up with a thin sliver beside the door. The width and colour of the grout joint are agreed too, along with mitred or trimmed edges. Taps, the shower niche and sockets are set out at the same time so they sit well against the joints.
Large-format tiles depend on what is behind them
A large tile hides nothing. If the wall is not flat and plumb, or the floor undulates, you get raised edges between tiles that a smaller format would have absorbed. We therefore look at the background before quoting and say whether it needs levelling first. Getting the tiles into the property matters as well: stairs, lift and tight turns, whether it is a flat in the centre or a house in Valldoreix or Mira-sol.
Junctions, skirting and access panels
Where wood flooring meets tiles, the levels need deciding beforehand so both floors finish flush, as does the position of the line, usually under the closed door. In a two-storey house, the foot of the staircase is another junction worth drawing. Skirting is chosen with the door frames in front of us, and access panels in plasterboard go where they reach stopcocks and equipment without being on show.
WE KNOW YOU HAVE QUESTIONS
Before your renovation begins.
What needs deciding before tiling a bathroom with large-format tiles?
The layout of each wall, the edge and joint details, and whether the walls and floor need levelling first. With large tiles, the taps, niche and shower tray also need positioning in advance, because every cut shows, and it is worth checking that the tiles can be carried into the property and up to the bathroom in one piece.
Can you renovate just the bathrooms in a house?
Yes. We can consider the bathrooms alone, whether there is one or several. With more than one, it helps to plan them together so the same approach to layout, joints and edges is repeated and the tiles are ordered once, as shade can vary between batches. We also look at how each bathroom floor meets the landing or bedroom floor.
Do you travel to Sant Cugat del Vallès?
Yes, subject to scope, location and A.BEC’s availability, as we travel from Vilafranca del Penedès. Tell us whether the property is in the town centre, Mira-sol, La Floresta, Les Planes or Valldoreix: building work in Valldoreix is handled by its own local body, the EMD, while for the rest of the municipality the Town Council has an online adviser for building work procedures that is worth checking.
