Before the quote: what has value and what is just old
We go round the house with you and make two lists: what you want to keep (beams, Catalan brick vaults, stone, old tiles) and what is just old (wiring, pipes, bathroom, kitchen). We check the state of the first, as not everything can be saved. If a beam or wall raises doubts, a qualified professional should assess it first.
New finishes alongside original features
With exposed beams there is no false ceiling to hide cables and pipes: they run behind a plasterboard lining, with no chasing into stone. In a bathroom, moisture-resistant plasterboard gives tiles a flat base, once the wall is checked for damp. Where wood flooring meets old tiles you are keeping, the levels come first.

Do you work in every municipality in Alt Penedès?
Yes, across the whole area, including small villages and isolated masies. It is the area we work from, and visits are arranged with Abel. If access is by a track or a narrow street, tell us so we can plan deliveries.
Can an old house be renovated while keeping the original beams or floors?
Often yes, but it depends on their condition. During the visit we look at each feature you want to keep and explain what it means for the rest of the work: where cables and pipes will run and how new finishes meet the old.
Do I need a permit to renovate a village house?
Usually you need to go through the town council, and the procedure depends on the town and the work. Some, such as Vilafranca, keep a catalogue of protected buildings that can affect a renovation. Check before setting dates.
